After a career of more than 25 years in the Capital Markets and the Investment Management industry, he launched Business Development Strategist (previously known as BD-Insider).

He assist organisations and it people to design effective and innovative business development, marketing and communication strategies that get results in an increasingly distracting world of information overload.

More specifically, his forte is to apply his craft in positioning investment opportunities to the right investors on a global basis.

His expertise was built on the foundational belief that, regardless of the industry or the size of the business, acquiring a deep understanding of who your clients exactly are, the ability to help them better understand their challenges and how to overcome them is what truly defines a great business because a proposition becomes difficult to ignore when a business has a purpose that is proudly adopted by its own people and intuitively understood by its clients.

In addition to working with organisations in the investments sector, he is also an Independent Expert Advisor to the European Commission (EC).

He works with the EC within the Horizon 2020 funding programme - Europe’s leading investment initiative with nearly €80 billion of funding available for Innovative SMEs and ambitious international research programmes.

His role within the programme is as an expert advisor on innovation, business development and go-to-market strategy for the various initiatives that result from the EU's Horizon 2020 program.

Ever since he came into the investment industry more than 25 years ago, he has always been attracted to less known, exotic and upcoming markets. This is why he is also highly experienced in working with emerging and frontier markets related opportunities.

More specifically, he has always been fascinated by the rise of a new middle class in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. He believes that before 2030, we will have around 3 billion new voices and minds joining the global conversation. He considers this to be one of the most powerful long-term investment stories of a lifetime, especially now that we are all connected thanks to technology.

Based on this vision, he was one of the co-founders of Silk Invest, a specialist investment management firm that opens new routes for investors in this space. He remains actively involved in the firm’s business development and marketing strategy.

Furthermore, he is a regular public speaker who is often asked to present about the future of business development in an increasingly digital, diverse, and virtual world - a subject about which he has published both several books and papers.

Baldwin is Belgian national and a proud European Citizen. He cultivates an inclusive worldview and fluently speaks six languages.
